Financial Controller – One Year fixed Contract

Daly Recruitment is delighted to partner with a luxurious hotel based in County Monaghan to appoint an experienced Financial Controller on a one-year fixed-term contract. This role is ideally suited to a seasoned hospitality finance professional from either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland who is seeking a senior, hands-on position within an exceptional property.
This pivotal role will oversee all financial management functions, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, as well as the development and implementation of internal control policies and procedures. In addition, you will take ownership of cost control through the management of the hotel’s purchasing function—driving efficiency, analysing alternatives, and ensuring alignment with both hotel and corporate standards.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and timely financial and operational information, providing clear analysis, insights, and projections to senior management.

Monitor capital expenditure, ensuring all spending aligns with approved justifications and financial governance.

Provide financial leadership in the creation and execution of the hotel’s business plan, departmental budgets, and strategic objectives.

Ensure safekeeping and proper management of all financial documents, contracts, and leases.

Lead the purchasing function, implementing and managing purchase order processes in line with policy.

Oversee the payroll function, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.

Manage financial risk, implementing controls to safeguard the hotel’s assets and financial position.

Prepare cash flow statements, budgets, forecasts, and regular financial performance reports.

Review internal reports to ensure effective cash flow management and continuous tracking of financial activity.

Ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reported in line with company and legislative requirements.

Implement and maintain financial reporting systems that comply with regulatory obligations.

Develop and monitor budgets, identifying opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiencies.

Conduct thorough examinations of financial data to detect discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.

Develop and implement robust systems that minimise errors in data capture, reporting, and financial calculations.

Provide the General Manager with accurate, timely, and insightful financial reporting.

Support additional duties and special projects as required.
Skills Required:
- Effective communications skills to liaise with all departments and properties
- A knowledge of financial controls within hospitality – preferable a hotel
- Confidence in forecasting and setting budgets
- Excellent IT skills
- Team leadership and delegation skills
- Efficient in analysing and producing financial reports.
Requirements:
- MUST have Proven experience as a Financial controller within hospitality.
- 3+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience
- Qualified Accountant
- Effective problem solver
- Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
- Excellent communications skills
Additional:
- Must be eligible to work in Ireland.
- Hotel Financial Controller experience is essential.
